Policy Statement | Med-Call Healthcare


  1. Competency Review: It is the responsibility of Agency to conduct and finalize the pre-employment assessment of Supplemental Staff’s competency based on the techniques, procedures, technology and skills needed to provide care, treatment and services to the populations served by Facility upon completion of Agency’s orientation. It shall be the responsibility of Facility to cooperate in a review or evaluation of Supplemental Staff, relative to Supplemental Staff’s ability to perform specific job functions upon completion of the assignment or shift. Agency relies on Facility’s feedback in order to accurately assess and re-assess the competency of Supplemental Staff on an ongoing basis based on Facility’s report of clinical performance.
  2. Subcontractors: Agency will not engage subcontractors to provide Supplemental Staff unless agreed to in advance by Facility. Agency will conduct and finalize the pre-employment assessment regardless of subcontractor’s assessment of Supplemental Staff.
  3. Orientation of Clients: It shall be the responsibility of Facility to orient Supplemental Staff to Facility and its rules and regulations and to acquaint them with Facility’s policies and procedures, including dress code, physical layout and equipment and to validate competency and ability of Supplemental Staff to properly use equipment.
  4. Client and Independent Contractors: Agency will be the agency/registry of Supplemental Staff to Facility. At its sole discretion, Agency reserves the right to utilize independent contractors in addition to specifications of direct hires, to assist in the provision of all agreed upon healthcare staffing services.
  5. Incident, Error, Tracking System: Upon notification of Incidents and or Errors, Agency shall document and track all unexpected incidents, including errors, sentinel events and other events, such as injuries and safety hazards related to the care and services provided, utilizing its data gathering tools. Information gathered tracked and analyzed is to be shared and reported appropriately to clients, regulatory bodies and the Joint Commission as required.
  6. Communicating Occupational Safety Hazards/Events: It shall be the responsibility of Facility to notify Agency within 24 hours of the event, including any competency issues, incidents, and/or complaints related to Supplemental Staff and/or Agency. Facility agrees to initiate communication with Agency whenever an incident/injury report related to Supplemental Staff is completed.
  7. Requirements for Staff Specified: The requirements of Supplemental Staff sent to Facility by Agency are to be determined by Facility as part of Agreement. It is Agency’s obligation to comply with the requirements of Facility by supplying staff and/or independent contractors who have the documented competencies, credentials, health screening and experience to satisfy the requirements specified by Facility in order to deliver safe care to the population being served.
  8. Staff Matching Requirements: Agency shall verify the Supplemental Staff’s licensure, certification, education and work experience to assure Supplemental Staff is competent and possess the skills and experience that match requirements for the assignment. This may include the use of new grad practitioners upon the request or approval of Facility.
  9. Reassignment: Supplemental Staff may only be placed in assignments that match the job description for which Agency assigns him or her; if Supplemental Staff is asked or requests to be reassigned, the department must be a like department or unit, and Supplemental Staff must have demonstrated previous competency and have the appropriate certifications and credentials for that department/unit. Supplemental Staff should only be resubmitted to areas of comparable clinical diagnoses and acuities as well as other suitably matched assignments of Agency’s various clients.

The local telephone number is (312) 795-0765 and can also be used outside of normal business hours in the event of an emergency.In the event of an emergency, natural disaster or other uncontrollable event, Agency will make every effort to continue to provide service to Facility from a location where phones and computers are functional. A copy of our Emergency Management Plan is available upon request.Agency has processes in place to resolve complaints in an effective and efficient manner. Any individual or organization that has a concern about the quality and safety of patient care delivered by Agency’s Supplemental Staff, which has not been addressed, is encouraged to contact the Joint Commission at www.jointcommission.org or by calling the Office of Quality Monitoring at (630) 792-5636. Agency demonstrates this commitment by taking no retaliatory or disciplinary action against Facility or Supplemental Staff when they do report safety or quality of care concerns to the Joint Commission.
